About Varna Airport

Varna Airport (VAR) (also known as Aksakovo Airport) was opened by the Bulgarian postal services in 1916. Originally little more than an airfield it has grown into Bulgaria's most important airport. The airport owes much of its success to its location on the Black Sea, home to a great number of popular resorts. The airport was renovated substantially in the middle of the 1970s and hopes to complete further work over the next decade.
