Drive over the border to Germany and follow the course of the road (Münchner Bundesstrasse/Salzburger Strasse/Münchner Bundesstrassse) towards Freilassing. The Sixt branch is located on the left-hand side (next to supermarket Aldi).

Exit motorway A8 towards "Bad Reichenhall" (last exit Austria). Follow the course of the road to the roundabout where you take the exit towards Freilassing. We were flying from London Stansted airport to Salzburg and decided to rent a car in Salzburg so we can drive to Hallstatt and Eagle’s eye. While looking for rental cars on Booking.com we found reasonably priced cars at this location which showed 10-15 mins from the airport. However, after landing in Salzburg, we realized that this location is in Germany and we have to cross the border, which was not a problem but we have to take a taxi to get there and it takes €30 for the taxi ride each side. So if the car at the airport is expensive by less than €60, it would make sense to rent at the airport. The person at the SIXT location was nice and the rental process was very smooth and took less than 10 mins and we had upgraded Audi A3 provided to us. As I said, the only downside is that you need to spend €60 on top of your rental cost to rent the car from here.
