Hameln is the city of the "Pied Piper" who first appeared in legend in the 13th century. He is now the city's symbol and as you explore this attractive city in Germany by foot you will find evidence of him everywhere from fountains to stained glass windows. See him, followed by rats and children, three times a day in the bells of the Hochzeitshaus. Or visit the Town Museum, where there are displays relating to the legend. The town is compact enough to walk around on foot, with charming narrow side streets, cafes and beer gardens and thousands of rats to show you the way. When you have finished in the city jump in your car hire and visit the Weser Mountains. In this peaceful mountain region of Germany you will come across villages, with half-timbered houses, nestled in valleys and rivers meandering through the countryside.
