Car hire with Sixt in Ribnitz Damgarten, Germany
The city's location by a natural water body is its chief attraction, in addition to its historic monuments. With a car rental it becomes easy driving down to the coast of the Baltic Sea, famous for beaches; marshy lands that are home to birds and animals of all kinds; and old-time harbours that once facilitated trade, and today have been restored to form major tourist attractions. Known as the City of Amber, the place is marked by the use of the resin in heritage buildings, local trades, and history. The famous Amber Museum is dedicated to exploring the significance, use, and trade of amber in Germany in the past, and is housed in an erstwhile nunnery. If museums fascinate you, you can also visit the Kunst modern art museum, or tour the Klockenhagen museum to learn more about rural architecture in Germany. The latter is home to a garden where delectable herbs are cultivated, in addition to exhibits depicting old style farmers' houses, sheds, and windmills that were once common in Germany. Another attraction is the traditional jewellery making workshop at Baltic Jewels, famed for its gold, silver, and amber ornaments. Among historic buildings are the Rostock Gate, built around 900 years ago, and the St. Mary's Church, whose spire towers over the city line and could once be seen far out on the sea.
