Hesseng is a quiet town, which is why renting a car is advisable if you would like to explore more of the Norwegian sights and culture. The town of Kirkenes is five kilometres to the north, and offers plenty of attractions including the Kirkenes snow Hotel. Originally built in 2006, it is made entirely of snow, and all its room are rebuilt differently each year. The hotel also offers activities such as Husky and snowmobile excursions. A short drive from here, on Foerstevannslia, you will find the Borderland Museum. Largely themed around World War II, it provides an insight into how the war affected the region and its people. While you're in the area, it is also worth taking the drive out to the Russian Border Station, which offers plenty of shops selling traditional produce and souvenirs of both Norway and Russia. We at Sixt hope you enjoy your car hire in Hesseng.
