Our recent car rental experience was generally satisfactory, though there were a few points to note. The specific model we paid for was unavailable, so the rental company offered us a vehicle in a similar price range. At the rental counter, we encountered an aggressive sales approach. The representative urged us to purchase additional insurance for nearly 200 euros, falsely claiming that any minor damage could lead to charges of up to 1200 euros. We declined this offer as the base rental already included basic damage coverage, and we had more affordable, additional coverage through our own insurance company.
Another key aspect was the security deposit. The rental company held 300 euros as a deposit, which was also the maximum amount they could deduct for any damages. Fortunately, upon returning the car without any issues, our full deposit of 300 euros was promptly refunded.
