This grand city on Spain's Northern coast in the Basque region, is a once in a lifetime destination and a fairly well-kept secret to boot. Popular with Spanish tourists but much less so with English ones, who tend to head to the Southwest coast, San Sebastian is a elegant town, with an impressive number of Michelin stars and beautiful sandy bay. Famous for its delicious Pintxo (tapas) bars, there's plenty to do in the town centre, although hiring a car also allows you to get out and explore the surrounding area. A ten minute drive from the centre of the city is the San Sebastian Aquarium, the best family friendly attraction in the town. A ten minute drive in the other direction, heading west to Mount Igueldo, is a charming amusement park. The cultural city of Bilbao is just 1 hours drive east and is home to the famous Guggenhiem Museum.
