However, you couldn't pick a more beautiful spot for a road trip, with miles of coastal roads that offer awe-inspiring views across the sea. Kahului Airport is located on the north coast, and connects to the south coast via the 380 Highway. To travel north-east, take the 340 Highway; but be aware that this road travels through some tricky, mountainous terrain.

Keawakapu Beach is a paradise for both surfers and sunbathers. It is surprisingly uncrowded and peaceful, with a large sandy beach that is ideal for resting in the shade with a good book. It has waves for surfing but is calm enough for swimming, snorkelling, and paddle boarding. You can even catch sight of turtles while taking a paddle!
