The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.
For car hires in New Zealand customers need to present a valid credit card.
International renters/drivers also need an international driver's license and a valid passport.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving licence. For driving licenses from countries not part of the international driving license treaty, a notarized translation must be presented with the original licence or a translation by an NZ Transport Agency authorized translation service.
Sixt supports Chinese customers with the necessary translations via Sixt WeChat Account or via following link: Link . This or any other kind of valid translation of the driving license can only be accepted if accompanied by the original driving license.
Please show a valid driver's license and identity card/passport at the time of pick up!
Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.
In New Zealand, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

These cards must show the main driver's name, signature, and card number, with the applicable logo. Cash, prepaid and reloadable debit cards, gift cards and Travel cards are NOT accepted for payment or to use as a bond for security purposes.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.
The following credit card fee is charged: - Mastercard: 2.5% - Visa: 2.5% - American Express: 3.5% - JCB: 3.5%
The transaction fee applies to total rental charges including GST. Debit cards are not charged a transaction fee.
At the time of rental, an authorization is obtained on your credit/debit card for the estimated total of the hire including a bond of $250*. You must have enough credit on your card to cover all charges plus the bond.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rentalwill be charged to this credit card. The total price will be converted from $NZ to Euros. This will incur a currency conversion fee expected to be between 2-4% of the total booking fee, which will beshown on your credit (or debit) card statement but not on your reservation agreement. Please see 4.2 of the Terms and Conditions. By confirming this booking, you confirm that you accept the currencyconversion fee that is applied. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.
Changing Booking A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 34,00 NZD. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact therental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of EUR 1,000,000.- for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
All rates are inclusive of LDW. If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.
If Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 NZD
Thanks to the interior protection, liability can be reduced to a predetermined deductible or eliminated if the vehicle interior is soiled or damaged.
All services must only be requested by using the Sixt 24-hour roadside assistance. This assistance also determines the type and extent of the cover, with the objective of keeping the renter mobile. Unless caused by Sixt itself within the framework of the mobility service, the renter is liable for damage to the rental vehicle.
Cross Border Rentals are not allowed.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.
All Sixt rental vehicles in New Zealand are NOT fitted with electronic Etags. The renter is responsible to pay for any toll trips they make within New Zealand. Renter should ask for information regarding tolls on collection of their vehicle.
Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.
One-way rentals within Sixt locations in New Zealand are allowed under conditions depending on tariff.
International One-Way Rentals are not allowed.
In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.
Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.
A fee will be charged for additional drivers, whereby only persons entered in the rental contract with a valid driving licence may drive the vehicle.
Baby seats and booster seats are available subject to a fee.
It is your responsibility to ensure appropriate child seats have been fitted for children travelling in the vehicle and that they have been fitted correctly.
Snow chains and ski racks are available subject to a fee.
The SIXT Toll Pass is an opt-in system that covers all toll charges under one flat amount which allows unlimited toll usage during your rental period. You can choose this option when collecting your rental vehicle or prebook via our website. Should you choose to make your own arrangements with the Tolling Authority direct this must be done prior to the using the toll road.
Roof boxes are available subject to a fee.
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise a special tariff for used fuel will be charged.
If desired, the vehicle will be refuled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station.
Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee (during opening hours).
The renter is obliged to report the vehicle back to SIXT at the end of the rental period.
A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.
Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.
A Lost Of Key Fee applies depending on the vehicle group.
If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee together with the first settlement-proposition.
In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. smell removal, animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a cleaning charge will apply.
