Sixt fleet in Cancun

Sixt fleet in Cancun

Our fleet of rental cars in Cancun offers you a wide selection of latest models, mainly US brands, such as Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler or Dodge. The smallest option would be our Dodge Atos which usually is available at a very low price. Nonetheless, for a more comfortable trip we recommend at least the Chevrolet Aveo or the Dodge Attitude in the compact car group. If you travel as family or in a group you could go for the Suburban or a Toyota Hiace.

No matter which model you choose, our cars will guarantee you a pleasant journey along the sunny Maya Coast.

We were skeptical with renting a car in Cancun. Sixt had good rates–they were not as low as Fox, but they were reasonable and high enough where it was not "too good to be true." We had insurance through our AllState policy and AMEX credit card. We declined all insurance. They didn't push any insurance on us but they did place a 42,000 peso ($2,000+ USD) hold for damages. From what I've heard, this is normal for Mexico. National does this, and we received the entirety of our deposit back at the end. SIXT put us in a Volkswagen Vento. It was nice and $19 USD a day. The car was not spotless when we returned it. I cleaned it out a tiny bit but they were ok with the dirt and light sand. Note that you have to call for the shuttle or communicate via Whatsapp (as a courtesy they'll reach out to you the day before). The SIXT airport shuttle was prompt picking us up from CUN T3 (15 mins after we got our bags), however it took 30 minutes for us to be dropped off for our flight home. Leave additional time for the shuttle. Take lots of photos of your rental car – interior and exterior, before and after. Pay for gas in pesos when @the PEMEX stations. Our SIXT clerk/rental associate gave us a great tip for counting out the cash when paying the clerk at the pump, "I am handing you 200, 400, 600, 800, etc.." We will rent from SIXT again, thank you!

Great experience with Sixt. The nice thing about them was that the third party liability insurance was included in the rate I booked at. They asked if I wanted to purchase additional insurance. When I said no they did not push the issue and did not try to upsell. There was no wait at the counter. Wait for the shuttle was also minimal.

Only negative is that the car was not new and it showed. Car had 55,000+ miles on it but I had no issues with it. They will take a large deposit on your card but you will get it back.

Victor was excellent. There are many fraudulent car rental places in the area. Despite the negative reviews, this is not one of them. We were treated well by professionals who went the extra mile. I would be suspicious of the wave of negative reviews here.

We were so anxious about renting a car after hearing and reading all these horror stories of customers being pressured into adding expensive insurance which is why I am leaving a review for this Sixt because our rental experience went as well as it could have and we are so grateful for it! We were contacted via whatsapp the day before to confirm our flight info but we had to call the office/message them on whatsapp when we got to the shuttle area and did not see a Sixt representative. They picked us up within 15 min of the call and then another group from a different terminal. The paperwork to get the car took maybe 30 minutes but the gentleman helping us was very nice. He did ask us briefly if we wanted to add the insurance coverage but he did not keep pushing it when we declined. We opted to prepay for gas because they charge at the same rate as the gas stations. We received the car with a full tank of gas therefore we had to pay for the full tank no matter how much we ended up using. Worth it for us to avoid the headache at the gas station and having to exchange for pesos for just this one transaction. They took photos of the car when we picked up. Just make sure they mark every dent/scratch when you pick up and to have both license plates intact when you drop off. This ended up being a good rental experience for us and we will use sixt in cancun again.

Shuttle service perfect: on time, in a brand new reconnazibile van

I rented a mid size car and I was given a brand new car (10kkm)

They didn’t push any insurance on me as I said I have my own coverage with my credit card

Car rental places always get bad reviews so I'll leave a good review here for Sixt. They had good prices and didn't push any insurance on me. I said I had my own collision damage waiver and that was fine. They got me in and out quick and didn't make too much fuss about the inside of the car being clean. I cleaned it out but it wasn't spotless or anything. Note that you have to call for the shuttle so if your phone doesn't work in Mexico you'll have to get someone to help you at the airport.
