In Italy to hire most cars the minimum age is 18 years old; you must simply hold a valid licence for at least a year and it induces a surcharge when under 25.
During the booking period, select a different drop-off location to check availability, it must be organized beforehand, or charges will apply.
It may cost a little extra, but you can cross into most European countries surrounding Italy, it’s always best to make such journeys clear to us during pick-up.
UK driving licences continue to be valid in Italy. With other non-EU licences you must provide a passport and it's suggested you carry an International Driving Permit. If in Europe for more than 6 months then an EU licence is required.
Always drive on the right-hand side of the road and never drive while texting or calling someone, this can incur a heavy fine from the police if caught.
Practically all debit and credit cards are accepted from leading companies, e.g. American Express, Mastercard etc. We do not accept prepaid cards in Italy.
