The county of Norland, in the north of Norway, is full of dramatic landscapes and some fascinating quirks. Winter is October to March, also known as the dark season, between November and January the sun does not come out and between May and July the sun is up all night. The stunning Northern Lights are visible during the winter. Skiing is very popular here, as are other winter sports, mountain climbing or biking, and fishing in the Ofotfjord. For the braver visitors amoung us, there is and opportunity to dive amoung the wreckage of planes and ships which succumbed to the battles of 1940. Drive around the area and take in the picturesque views of the mountains and fjords, which Norway is famous for.
